6-minute total body workout. Really?

You can do better than this.
Check out this video from the Oxygen website: Jamie Eason's 6-minute workout

"All you need is a set of dumbbells to do these four form-sculpting moves."

If people are convinced by glossy magazines that doing a six-minute workout will produce noticeable results there’s no wonder people get discouraged and give up on exercise after a few months. Videos such as the one above, usually geared towards women, are plain out misleading. Women are lead to believe that they will get a fitness model's physique by doing the presented workout. Don’t be fooled – it requires a lot more than six minutes daily to build a solid physique and strength.

The video presented here is more of a cardio workout than a "form-sculpting" one. In either case, six minutes is not nearly enough to produce any mentionable effects. Unless you have special considerations such as obesity or other impairments that compromise your performance and mobility, this so-called workout is not likely to make you stronger or boost your endurance.

Finally, when using the same resistance (in this case dumbbells) for your upper body and your lower body, your lower body is most likely not getting much of a workout. The prime movers in our legs are much larger and stronger than the muscles in our arms. To get results it is essential to use appropriate resistance for each muscle group.

Regardless of what magazines want us to believe, there are no shortcuts to fitness. Your results will reflect the amount of work you put into it.
